Children's Privacy Policy
ScoreBook is committed to safeguarding our users' privacy, especially
the privacy of children whose personal information may be entered
by league or team managers (a child being defined as a person
12 years of age or younger).
ScoreBook is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection
Act, otherwise known as COPPA. This Children's Privacy Policy
is designed to help both children and parents understand how
a child's personal information may be used by ScoreBook.com.
This policy may be modified from time to time to address parental
and user concerns or to reflect policy changes.
About the Children's Online Privacy Protection
Act (COPPA)
COPPA includes new rules, set by the Federal Trade Commission
that went into effect April 21, 2000. These rules require Web
site operators to post comprehensive privacy policies, notify
parents about their information practices, and obtain parental
consent before collecting any personal information from children
12 years of age or younger or allowing children 12 years of
age or younger to publicly post personal information such as
on web pages, bulletin boards or chat rooms without parental
consent.
What information is collected, and
by whom:
At the present time, personal information about players is collected
ONLY by league and team managers, who enter such information
into the ScoreBook.com database as part of their league management
activities. Therefore, personal information such as a player's
home address, telephone number, and e-mail address would be
entered by an individual defined herein as a child only if the
league or team manager is 12 years of age or younger. Display
of such information is optional, and the ability to register
a league or set up a team using ScoreBook is not contingent
upon the display of such information to either league or team
members or casual viewers of the site.
We may also gather additional system information, such as time
of day, type of Web browser being used, the operating system/platform,
your IP address, and the Web site from which you link to ScoreBook.com.
ScoreBook is located at 17 South Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey,
NJ 07446, (201) 327-9400. You can e-mail ScoreBook regarding
our information practices at manager (at) ScoreBook.com.
ScoreBook is an online resource for sports league management
and dissemination of information about the leagues and teams
that participate. At this time, we do not collect personal information
about you or your child except from league directors and team
managers, who are presumably known to you. League directors
and team managers may post league, team, or game highlight photographs
that may feature your child. If you do not want photographs
featuring your child's image posted, you should discuss this
with your league director or team manager. The parts of our
site that involve viewing league or team information or results
are accessible to the general public. Team rosters show player
names and league city only, unless display of other information
is designated as approved by the league or team manager administering
that roster.
Some portions of the ScoreBook.com Web site may include the
content of third parties (for example, advertising banners)
or may link to third party Web sites. Content included on the
ScoreBook.com Web site or third party Web sites that are linked
from the ScoreBook.com Web site may collect information about
you or your child. The information practices of our advertisers
and Web sites to which we may link are outside of our control
and are not covered by this privacy statement. We recommend
that children use caution when exiting the ScoreBook.com site
through links or banner advertisements.
Should you wish to remove your child's information at any time,
you should contact the league director or team manager for your
child's team.
Security
ScoreBook.com maintains a secured area on the Site for transmission
and storage of submitted information, including demographic
information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address)
entered by your child's league director or team manager. Although
ScoreBook.com will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard the
confidentiality of your child's information, transmissions made
by means of the Internet cannot be guaranteed to be secure.
ScoreBook.com has no liability for disclosure of your child's
information due to errors in transmission or unauthorized acts
of third parties.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act prohibits all Web
site operators (including ScoreBook.com) from conditioning a
child's participation in an Internet-related activity on their
site on the disclosure of more personal information than is
reasonably necessary to participate in the activity. Requirements
for personal information made by league directors or team managers
are out of the control of ScoreBook.com.
