As of 9/7 we still have a few playoff positions unsettled. Most of the games posted will have an affect on the final standings. We have a field(s) reserved for Saturday that will be used in the worst case, if necessary, to solidify positions.

The season's-end schedule is up. With a few exceptions, teams on this schedule are still in contention for a playoff position. If your team is not on this schedule and are short of 22 games and still with a chance of making the playoffs, get in contact with John ASAP. Teams not headed to the playoffs with games yet to be scheduled or rescheduled will be playing those games the week of the 11th. All teams will have the opportunity to play 22 games. Playoff teams - Games will begin Sunday 11th. Brackets/schedules will be up soon.

Summer Season
The monsoon rains waited until late in our season to slam us. So, as we approach the last month of play we will do all possible to complete the regular season. Assuming fields are available, teams may find themselves scheduled back to back days in that endeavor. If an insufficient number of fields and/or days exist, scheduled games with a team(s) contending for playoff positions will have priority. Games with non-contending teams may be rescheduled when and where possible.

Playoffs
We plan to continue using the two and out, winners & losers brackets format. It is further planned to continue with the tradition of the top four best records making divisional playoffs. Games are tentatively scheduled to begin before week three in September. Final details will be announced.

Picnic and All Star Games - October 2nd

Picnic/BBQ
The annual picnic and trophy presentations will again be at Cubs Riverview in Mesa. We all look forward to those hamburgers and hot dogs presented by AZMSBL's own Board member and official chef, Chuck Brockman. There will be plenty of munchies and cold liquid refreshment for all.

All Star Games
The three games will be played at Cubs Riverview with start times of 9 am. The managers of the six division pennant winning teams will manage the teams. As we get closer, numbers of players from each team and other specifics will be announced.

Dear Fellow Umpires and Friends,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I regret to inform you of the passing of Jim Camp. As many of you are aware, Jim was a man that had umpired here in the Phoenix area, and before that the Las Vegas area, for many years. For that reason, I felt obliged to include all umpires, whether active or inactive in the database, along with many contacts who have known Jim for a very long time. Jim was a man who exemplified what it was to be a full time amateur umpire, and with a skill set that enabled him to work minor league spring training games without a hesitation in my mind, he was also humble and willing enough to work the lowest level of youth baseball without hesitation in his. He was always the first person to arrive at a site, and looked forward to the opportunity to work his games each day. As an umpire who had honed his craft he always had a positive attitude regardless of the temperature or quality of baseball, had an innate ability to get along with coaches while diffusing situations, and always looked forward to helping his fellow umpires grow and become better at the vocation he so greatly loved. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have known him, we are all truly blessed. For those who did not, he was someone you would have loved to have worked with or been grateful to meet. He was someone I was fortunate enough to call a friend, and for that I am eternally grateful. Please keep Jim and his family in your thoughts in prayers, and as more information becomes available I will communicate all that I am presented with going forward.
